Immigration and Visa status [korea]

- FOREIGN STUDENT
  • Subject: Foreigners who desire to stay in Korea longer than 90 days
  • Required Documents
    • Application form, Passport
    • Certificate of Enrollment or Admission
    • 1 Color Photo (3.5×4.5cm with white background), Application fee \10,000 for cash
      ※ Issuance of Alien Registration Card(including re-issuance) is paid only for cash from 1st Jan. 2011 based on Immigration rule Article 73, Clause 1
      ※ Photo: Taken within recent 6 months, white background, 3.5cm*4.5cm color, 1 full-face photo.








- REPORT FOR CHANGE OF REGISTRATION
  • Subject: Change of name, gender, birthdate, nationality or engaging institution(within 14 days)
  • Required Documents
    1. Passport and Foreigner Registration Card
    2. Application form
    3. In case of school change
      • Certificate of Enrollment at new school
        (Before new semester : Certificate of Admission and Certificate of tuition fee payment)
      • Certificate of Withdrawal from previous school Certificate of Enrollment at previous school with attendance rate, Transcript



- REPORT FOR CHANGE OF ADDRESS (STAY)

  • If your address is changed, you need to report the new address to the local Immigration Office or city / gun / gu office of your new residence within 14days after moving in.
  • Required Documents
    1. Passport and Alien Registration Card
    2. Application form
    3. Real estate / Contract paper (or Certificate of residence)


- RE-ENTRY PERMISSION

Re-entry permission is exempted for those who desire to re-enter within 1 year after the departure date. (revised 1st Dec. 2010)
※ Re-entry permission is exempted within the period of visa status, provided that the period of visa status is less than a year.


- CHANGE OF VISA STATUS
  • Subject: Foreigners who desire to Change of Visa status from C-3(a General Short-term Visa) to D-4(a General Student Visa)
  • Required Documents
    • Application form, Passport, Alien Registration Card, Certificate of tuition fee payment, Certificate of Admission and application fee \50,000(revenue stamp)


- EXTENSION OF VISA STATUS
  • Subject: Foreigners who desire to extend D-4 Visa status
  • Required Documents
    • Application form, Passport, Alien Registration Card, Application fee \30,000
    • Certificate of Enrollment
    • Certificate of tuition fee payment
    • Guarantee of bank balance with minimum of \3,000,000


-ACTIVITY OUT OF VISA STATUS (PART-TIME JOB)
1. D-2(Study abroad) holders
  • Subject
    • Those who are recommended by professor and are attending at least College or above high education institution with qualification of study abroad
    • D-4(a General Student Visa)holders are qualified to apply at least 6 months staying in Korea.
    • Those who are writing a thesis after regular degree course (including Master and Doctor degree)
    • Those who have GPA 2.5 or above at previous semester
  • working time limit
    • Within 20 hours a week(Monday to Friday)during the semester.
      ※Those who are in Master / Doctor degree or are writing a thesis can work up to 30 hours a week (from 26th July,2010)
    • The number of working place is limited to 2 places
    • But no limits on holiday, Saturday, Sunday and vacations
  • Required documents
    • Application form, Passport, Alien Registration Card
    • Recommendation letter for part-time job(should be signed by employer, advisory professor and officer of international students in university)
  • Application
    • Filling out the application form, apply online. Recommendation letter could be attached as a scanned file.

  • Available occupation
    • Occupation closely related to major
    • Occupation proper for students based on common sense
    • Occupation in English village or camp as seller, clerk or staff (including Chinese, Japanese or other foreign language)
    • Simple labor occupation, not as an employment field (should be qualified based on related law)
