However recently the Sligo star took to a different stage, this time the footlights were replaced by floodlights, gladrags replaced by football kit as Shane, 'Against All Odds', proudly took his team onto the hallowed Sligo Rover's Showgrounds to help raise much-needed funds for the Irish Red Cross.
The challenge game between Sligo Rovers and a Shane Filan X1 was a great success with hundreds of fans turning up to support their teams. Over €4k was raised on the evening.
Two Sligo girls, Hillary Jones and Leslie-Ann Culkin persuaded Shane, an keen footballer, who, when at home, turns out for his local team every week, to support their fund-raising activity which has seen them already depart this week to take part in The Platinum Peak Challenge trek up Africa's majestic peak, Mount Kilimanjaro to help fundraise for the Irish Red Cross 70th anniversary.
The Irish Red Cross is part of the world's largest humanitarian aid organization with 97 million volunteers in 186 countries who are on the ground at every natural disaster and conflict zone, bringing life-saving aid to people in desperate need.
In the end, like his 'day job', Shane's team proved too good for the opposition with their 'All Or Nothing' attitude and defeated the Sligo Rover's team with style. The Rover's team looked to the Referee pleading 'Don't Say It's Too Late', but the whistle was blown at the 3-1 final score.
Fans are hoping that Rovers will want to 'Try Again' for a return match and had to be consoled with the comment, 'Nothing Is Impossible'.
